It has been another wonderful season of the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge Division One and it all comes down to this contest on Sunday as Dolphins and Boland go head to head.

As is often the way, despite the play-off system, this game does see the top two sides from the league phase meeting in the final and  it was Boland who finished top of the pile with five wins and one defeat compared to Dolphins who won four and lost two.

It was also Boland who came out on top when the teams met in that group stage, winning by six wickets and with 66 balls remaining. Imran Manack was the star for the team in that game,  returning figures of 4/24.

But Dolphins finished the group stage fixtures with five successive victories and the certainly have the momentum coming into the final.

Boland (Rocks) Preview

Boland ended the group stage with a five wicket victory over Western Province with 39 balls remaining in Paarl. That win secured top spot in the division and gave them smooth age to this final on Sunday!

There were standout performances with the ball from Imaran Manack, Siyabonga Mahima, Shaun von Berg and Aviwe Mgijma in that game and although Glenton Stuurman went wicketless, he was still economical.

Boland have depth to their bowling attack, as well as variety, which will be crucial in this final.

With the bat, Gavin Kaplan at number three and Blayde Capell both had good knocks against Western Province. Grant Roelofsen at the top of the order and Shaun von Berg in the middle order are both capable of playing decisive innings as well.

Boland (Rocks) Predicted Playing XI:

Blayde Capell, Grant Roelofsen, Gavin Kaplan, Aviwe Mgijma, Lehan Botha, Clyde Fortuin (c) (wk), Shaun von Berg, Ayabulela Gqamane, Imran Manack, Glenton Stuurman, Siyabonga Mahima

Dolphins Preview

Dolphins will arrive in this final with plenty of confidence and potentially more self-belief than Boland in spite of finishing behind them in the group stage. This is not only because Dolphins are riding the crest of a wave on their current winning run, but also because they reached the final with a very easy 65 run victory over Titans in the Qualifier on Wednesday.

Although the batting relied on Hanu Viljoen at number six and Eathan Bosch at number seven, there were cameos from throughout the side and as long as one is able to go beyond 50 and four or five others make useful contributions then expect Dolphins to be strong in this innings.

With the ball, they are equally adept with Keshav Maharaj and Tristan Luus coming into the final off the back of taking three-wicket hauls against the Titans.

Dolphins are flying and they will take some stopping!

Dolphins Predicted Playing XI:

Tshepang Dithole, JJ Smuts, Bryce Parsons, Jason Smith, Khaya Zondo, Hanu Viljoen (wk), Eathan Bosch, Andile Simelane, Keshav Maharaj, Prenelan Subrayen (c)

Weather Conditions

It will be another warm day in Paarl with the temperature reaching 27 degrees in the hottest part of the day. Expect some cloudier spells at the start and end of the day.

BOL vs DOL Pitch Report

The ball will come onto the bat at a good speed in Paarl and the bounce is always consistent here. We predict both teams will be looking to post a score approaching 300-320 if they bat first.

Toss: To Bat

The weather conditions are not forecast to change much across the game so we expect both teams to want to bat first and then defend their total in the second innings of the game.

Both teams impressed at different times during the group stage but it is Dolphins who bring the better form and momentum into the final. For that reason, we are expecting to see their winning run continue and are predicting a victory for Dolphins.

We are backing Dolphins to win!
