The battle for the knockout spots in the Global T20 Canada intensifies as Brampton Wolves take on Bangla Tigers Mississauga. Both teams have shown strong form, winning three of their last five matches. The Wolves currently lead the table with eight points from six games, while Mississauga are slightly behind with six points from five.
Brampton come into this match with a massive psychological advantage, having defeated Mississauga twice already including their recent eight-wicket win, where Andrew Tye took their top order apart claiming three wickets in nine balls. Mississauga will be hoping to quickly rebound from their heavy defeat to Brampton.
David Wiese continues to be their star performer, but the top order, particularly Hazratullah Zazai, needs to improve. With two games remaining, they need at least one win to secure a playoff spot. A victory over the table-toppers would significantly enhance their chances.

A 33-run drubbing against Montreal in the opener condemned Mississauga to a sedate start to the tournament, but they wasted no time in bouncing back.
Three wins on the trot- against Vancouver, Surrey and Toronto- helped them to get back in contention for a place in the business end. But they’ve slid down to the fourth position on the table after a dismal showing with the bat against Brampton.
They were bowled out for 79 in 13 overs, and allowed the Wolves to romp home to victory, resulting in their NRR taking a hit. With two matches still to go in the group stages, Mississauga will be hoping to pick up at least one win to confirm their berth in the knockouts.
Two wins in two matches will take them to 10, and that might be enough to secure the second spot going into the knockouts; however they still need a few results to go their way, especially with Montreal Tigers and Toronto Nationals.
David Wiese, a key part of their squad for his all-round abilities, doesn’t seem to slow down at all. He’s getting better with age and is still contributing massively to the team’s cause bowling with the new ball and batting down the order.
Hazratullah Zazai’s poor returns with the bat up top is very much a worry, and the top order looks a little depleted with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Muhammed Waseem struggling for consistency.

A hat trick of wins has helped Brampton Wolves get their campaign back on track. The Wolves got their tournament off to a flying start with a huge 59 run win over Surrey, but suffered back to back defeats against Toronto by 8 wickets and Montreal by 42 runs. However, they have won three in a row since, thanks to useful contribution from Aussie cricketers Beau Webster and Andrew Tye.
The Aussie all-rounder picked up four wickets with the ball and added 67 runs with the bat in two of those man-of-the-match winning performances against Vancouver and Surrey, while former Aussie T20 bowler Andrew Tye snared three wickets for 18 runs running through Mississauga’s batting order. Tye ed for three wickets in a space of 9 balls and with the able of Jack Jarvis left Mississauga batsmen reeling at 13 for 5 in the fifth over, a setback they couldn’t recover from.
Thomas Draca with 8 wickets may have gone a little under the radar but his performances have made sure that Brampton’s batsmen don’t have too many to chase down. Aaron Johnson has become a liability at the top with a string of poor scores, but David Warner is slowly easing into his space. The middle order looks solid with George Munsey, Nick Hobson and Beau Webster in good form.

The top three highest scores of the tournament belong to teams batting initially, so batting first seems to carry an advantage on this pitch, with run-scoring becoming a bit challenging as the match goes on. Chasing anything over 170 could be difficult due to the pitch's tendency to slow down in the second innings. Odds are that it may rain at some point during the game, so captains would do better to for that going into the toss.
The match will be played at the CAA centre in Brampton. Both these teams have played each other thrice at this venue, with Brampton coming out winners twice. The other match was abandoned due to rain.
Six out of the seven games where chasing teams ed wins have been low scoring. Both captains would be looking to win toss, bat first, get off to a good start and put a massive total on board.
Brampton Wolves are on a high after their hat trick of wins, and will be looking to step into the knockouts with another victory. Brampton has got good depth in batting and bowling, and we think they're better placed to come away with a win.
