There is not a lot of hope for England's ers ahead of this match and, although they have been beaten by Australia and lost countless Test series away to their great rivals, home series defeats are far less regular.
But this series appears to be going only one way after comprehensive wins in Nottingham and Leeds from Mitchell Marsh's side. England will be hoping that the return of Jofra Archer and Matthew Potts on his home ground are able to cause real problems for Australia's batters but in truth it is England's batting which has been their main let down.
Australia have strength in depth to pick from in their squad and the likes of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will be relishing the opportunity to bowl at this England batting line-up which has delivered only two half-centuries so far in the series.
England were flying less than a month ago with a 100% record in home Tests this summer before it all came crashing down in the final Test against Sri Lanka at The Oval. Since then, although they have won one T20I, they have also lost one in that format and now are 2-0 down in this series with their team looking devoid of experience, confidence and most of all, runs!
One man who has been consistent with the bat in this series and across the last two years in international cricket is England opener Ben Duckett and only keeper-batter Jamie Smith out-scored him at Headingley on Saturday.
With the ball, we expect Jofra Archer to come back after being rested in Leeds and although the conditions are likely to favour pace over spin, Adil Rashid will have his tail up after taking 2/42 on his home ground this weekend and now having over 200 ODI wickets!
The left-hander has been in excellent form recently and has done the bulk of the scoring for England. He scored 95 runs in the 1st ODI and followed it up with another fiery knock of 32 runs in the 2nd ODI. Considering his form in the series and the way he has dominated against the Australian bowlers, another Duckett masterclass is on the cards in the 3rd ODI.

Australia have an excellent squad to select from for the rest of this tour and the strength in depth was there for all to see with Mitchell Marsh announcing the return of world class experienced stars Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Glen Maxwell to the side ahead of the second ODI.
Although there could be a temptation to rest some of their pace bowlers or all-rounders in this game, the series is up for grabs and we expect Australia to select their best XI for this clash in Durham.
That means Starc and Hazlewood sharing the new ball and Adam Zampa bowling plenty of spin overs during the middle part of England's innings. Travis Head will open for Australia with the bat looking to maintain his batting average of 60+ in ODIs since the start of 2022!
Labuschagne has been one of Australia's most consistent batters throughout the series, scoring 77 runs in the 1st ODI and getting off to a good start in the last match with 19 runs. With a strong track record of scoring at least 30 runs in most games, we predict that Labuschagne will continue his good form and score over 27.5 runs in today's match.

Although the forecast for the next few days in Durham is not encouraging, Tuesday actually appears likely to be the driest! That is not to say that there is no chance of some rain but we should certainly get more than enough play in to get a full ODI completed in cool conditions.

The pitch at Chester-le-Street often offers something for the swing bowlers and with the overhead conditions likely to be humid as well as some moisture in the wicket, batting could well be tricky. If either side reaches 310 when batting first in this game then they should have an excellent chance of victory.
The pitch at Riverside ground favors the batters, and three of the last five ODI matches played at this venue have seen total match scores in excess of 587 runs. Both teams' batters have been in top form in the series, and given the batting-friendly conditions, we predict the total match score to be over 587.5 runs.
We predict that both captains will want to bat first in this game. Although Australia won the opening match of this series after fielding first, three of the last four ODIs in Durham have been won by the team batting first.
This England team is lacking many of their best players in this format and confidence appears low across the squad. In comparison, Australia are playing brilliant cricket and no one has been able to stop them in this format for nearly a year! As a result, we are predicting another victory for the tourists and a series win as well.
We are backing Australia to win!
