Kent Spitfires haven’t had the best of starts to the Vitality Blast 2025. They started their season with a narrow 4-run win against Gloucestershire, but their next match against Middlesex was abandoned midway due to rain when they had posted 172-9. In their latest fixture, they went down by 43 runs against Surrey, which caused their NRR to fall to -0.950.
The batting unit hasn’t exactly clicked for Kent so far, except Zak Crawley, who tops their charts with 140 runs in three matches at an average of 47 and a strike rate of 171. Apart from him, however, only Tawanda Muyeye has made an impact with the bat, scoring 102 runs in three matches at 127.50.
The likes of Daniel Bell-Drummond, Joe Denly, and Sam Billings will need to step up, as they have in the past, if Kent hopes to upstage Hampshire.
The bowling has been decent, with Grant Stewart, Matthew Parkinson, and Thomas Rogers chipping in with wickets. However, the team seems to lack that one bowler who can regularly cause issues to the opposition batters.

Three wins in three games and Hampshire Hawks have roared to the top of the table in the South Group. The Hawks seem like the team to beat this year, and in the form they will be hard to stop.
Leading their batting charge is Toby Albert, who has amassed 155 runs in three games at a strike rate of 155. He has already struck two fifties and is looking good for more such contributions.
James Vince is right behind him with 112 runs in three matches, while Dewald Brevis has also impressed with one fifty in his two innings so far.
Scott Currie, meanwhile, has been the star of their bowling lineup with 7 wickets in three matches at an economy of 6.50. John Turner and Chris Wood have done an excellent job of providing crucial breakthroughs and have taken nine wickets between themselves.

Early on at St Lawrence Ground, seamers get help with swing and bounce, especially under overcast skies. As the game progresses, the pitch flattens out, rewarding timing and shot selection. Spinners can grip it later, but short square boundaries keep them honest. Teams chasing often have the edge here, with conditions tending to stay true under lights and dew rarely playing a big role.
Weather in Canterbury will be pleasant and cool, with very little chance of rain.
The average score batting first at St Lawrence Ground is 175. In the first match of Vitality Blast 2025 played at the venue, Surrey posted 193-7 against Kent and ed an emphatic 42-run win. Looking at these numbers, the team batting first will aim for a total of around 180-190 in this match.
Teams batting first usually do better at St Lawrence Ground – 39 of the 64 matches played here have been won by the team batting first, including the first match of the season played here. So, both captains will likely look to bat first here in this game.
Kent Spitfires and Hampshire Hawks have had contrasting fortunes in this Vitality Blast. While Hampshire have looked robust in both departments, Kent’s batting seems to be struggling to click as a unit. Moreover, Hampshire’s bowlers are in tremendous form and will look to put pressure on Kent’s batters. Their current form and strong bowling attack make Hampshire favorites for this clash.
Hampshire Hawks are our picks for the winners of this match.
