After suffering a seven-wicket loss in their season opener against The Blaze Women, where they failed to defend 170 runs, Lancashire Women bounced back with a strong bowling performance against Durham Women, clinching an 18-run victory.
Batting first, Lancashire Women posted a decent total of 140/7 in their 20 overs. They found themselves in early trouble during the powerplay, losing three quick wickets to be 18/3. Katie Mack (26 runs) and skipper Eleanor Threlkeld (48 runs) then added 42 runs for the fourth wicket. In the end, Ailsa Lister played a magnificent quick-fire cameo of 42 runs from just 23 balls, smashing three fours and two sixes.
Grace Potts led the charge with the ball, finishing with figures of 4/33. Grace Johnson, Ecclestone, and Sophie Morris each picked up two wickets as Lancashire bundled out Durham for 122 runs in 18.4 overs, securing a hard-fought win for the Thunder.
So far this season, Katie Mack has been the mainstay batter for Lancashire, amassing 85 runs in two matches at a healthy strike rate of 141.66. Threlkeld has also been good in the middle order, playing handy cameos. With the ball, Potts tops the charts with four wickets, while four other bowlers have picked up two wickets each.

Hampshire Women kickstarted their season in dominant fashion, becoming the first team in the Vitality Women's T20 Blast to post a score of over 200 runs, largely thanks to their opening duo of Maia Bouchier and Ella McCaughan, who were at their best with the bat against Essex Women.
Hampshire Women posted a formidable total of 215/3, on the back of half-centuries from Maia Bouchier (92 runs off 53 balls), who narrowly missed out on a century, and Ella McCaughan (68 runs off 39 balls). These two added a record 158 runs for the first wicket. Freya Kemp (20 runs) and Georgia Adams (22 runs) then added a quick 30 runs, powering Hampshire past the 200-run mark.
Despite a strong batting performance, Hampshire Women had a tough time in the field with the ball, as Essex Women remained in the run-chase throughout. However, a superb bowling performance in the middle overs from Bex Tyson (3/40) and an economical spell from Daisy Gibb (1/18) in the powerplay proved to be match-winning.
With Ellyse Perry still to the Hampshire squad (she is expected to in July for the latter half of the season), their batting will only strengthen further. In the bowling department, Lauren Bell will miss the match due to international commitments (likely England call-up). There is no update on Charli Knott from the team, and her availability remains questionable, though she is expected to be available for the first half of the season.

Minimal TurnThe pitch at Old Trafford, Manchester, favors bowlers and is a low-scoring ground, with the average first innings score in the last nine Women's T20 matches played at this venue being 121 runs. The conditions favor fast bowlers, as the surface has some additional grass and the new ball is going to be key, with swing on offer. Spinners are likely to be less effective at this venue.
Teams bowling first won 9 of the last 10 Women's T20 matches played at Old Trafford, Manchester. The surface favours the bowlers in the initial stages of the match and as the game progresses it gets better for batting. We predict the team that wins the toss will opt to bowl first.
It is going to be an even contest, with the battle between Hampshire Women's formidable batting lineup and Lancashire Women's bowling unit taking center stage. However, Hampshire Women also boast a strong bowling attack, whereas Lancashire's batting remains an area of concern. On a balanced track where batting performance often plays a decisive role in the outcome, we are backing Hampshire Women to win this fixture.
