London Spirit will take on Trent Rockets in their third home game of the season at Lord’s, London. While their first match here was washed out due to rain, the London Spirit Women suffered a defeat in the next home game.

Trent Rockets, on the other hand, have lost two in three matches while the other game was abandoned due to rain. Rockets were bowling first in both these outings and ended up conceding 134 and 157 runs.

While the hosts have played just one game and its too early to say whether they are actually struggling in of form, the Rockets definitely need to look into their middle-order.

While chasing a 135-run target in their last match, Trent Rockets women went from 102-3 in 78 balls to 107-7 in 91 balls. Nat Sciver-Burnt and Harmanpreet Kaur will be expected to lead the batting effort for the Rockets in the middle order. Grace Harris and Heather Knight will be the key batters in the top 3 for London Spirit Women.

London Spirit Women Preview

London Spirit are out to secure their first win of the season after two abandoned matches and a loss at home. They will be looking to make the most of the home advantage as they head into this contest against Trent Rockets Women.

The top-order of Grace Harris and Heather Knight will be crucial in setting the stage for a good total. A peculiar aspect of the batting lineup is the age of most of their batters.

Richa Ghosh, the wicket-keeper batter at number 5 is 19-year old with plenty of international experience. And further down the line, there are couple more inexperienced teenage players in the batting order.

Though talent and ability have nothing to do with age, experience certainly matters. And in this lineup, it seems like the majority of scoring responsibility would be shared by the top 4 batters.

Richa Ghosh could also be a game-changer at number 5 and will be one to watch out for. Sarah Glenn and Danielle Gibson were very impressive with the ball in the last game.

Melie Kerr, a right-arm leg-break bowler from New Zealand is crucial to this bowling lineup. Though she was wicketless in the last game, she can deliver breakthroughs and be a crucial part of this bowling attack.

London Spirit Women Predicted Playing XI:

Grace Harris, Danielle Gibson, Heather Knight (c), Melie Kerr, Richa Ghosh (wk), Grace Scrivens, Sarah Glenn, Charlotte Dean, Niamh Fiona Holland, Tara Norris, Lauren Filer

Trent Rockets Women Preview

The skipper must be disappointed after seeing her team lose the last game from a strong position in the run chase. The openers got off to a flying start with a 61-run opening stand in 44 balls.

Bryony Smith had set the stage for the run-chase with a 70-run knock at the top. However, the middle order just collapsed after skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt was out for 2 off 9 balls.

The middle order never looked comfortable and the failure of the big stars like the skipper and Harmanpreet Kaur at 3 and 4 is a worrying sign for the Rockets.

These two played a key role in the middle order in the previous game where they were chasing an even bigger target. The fact that the Rockets have been chasing big scores also reflects on their bowling performances.

Katherine Sciver-Brunt, the most experienced bowling all-rounder in this side was very expensive against Southern Brave conceding 32 off 15 balls. She bounced back in the next game with 9 dots from 15 balls conceding just 8 runs.

However, the bowlers have failed to deliver consistent breakthroughs to put the opposition under pressure and eventually restrict them to a par score.

Trent Rockets Women Predicted Playing XI:

Bryony Smith, Lizelle Lee (wk), Naomi Dattani, Nat Sciver-Brunt (c), Harmanpreet Kaur, Fran Wilson, Joanne Gardner, Katherine Sciver-Brunt, Alana King, Alexa Stonehouse, Kirstie Gordon

Weather Conditions

The pitch at Lord’s is known to be batting friendly but it also offers some helo for the pacers and particularly the swing bowlers. The weather will be partly cloudy with a high of 22 degrees Celsius.

LSW vs TREW Pitch Report

Lord’s, London will host the clash between London Spirit and Trent Rockets as both teams look for their first win of the season. The home of cricket is a great venue for both batters and bowlers. With the overcast conditions, swing bowlers should be getting a good start with the new ball. The team batting first should be aiming for something over 135-140 runs to get into a winning position.

Toss: To Bat

While the hosts failed to defend a total in their last game here, we reckon, batting first and having runs on the board would suit both teams. They haven’t got any reliable finishers to depend on in a run chase.

London Spirit may have the home advantage but their batting lineup isn’t very promising. Trent Rockets have been expensive with the ball but quickly bounced back and now have a new headache to deal with. Though the Rockets suffered a batting collapse in the last game leading to their defeat, they have a more promising batting lineup and we reckon they will have a slight edge going into this match.
