Melbourne Renegades Preview

Nic Maddinson's side is in deep trouble. They went down by 13 runs in their last game against the Perth Scorchers. They lost the game from a position of strength, and it would hurt the players. They must win this game to make it to the playoffs, and Maddinson would expect a better show from his players.  

Quinton de Kock and Joe Clarke offered a good start in the last game, and the side will expect a similar show. Shaun Marsh also played well, but the side will need runs from Jake Fraser-McGurk and Nic Maddinson. The lower middle order hasn't delivered the goods, and the side will expect a good show from Jonathan Wells, Tom Rogers, and Will Sutherland.  

The bowling attack has an additional responsibility as the batsmen haven't been at their best. The side will need early strikes from Tom Rogers and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa are experienced bowlers, and the side will expect a good show from them. Sutherland adds variety to this attack, and his role will be crucial.

Matthew Short's side comes into this game with a loss. It was a heart-breaking defeat for the side against the Sydney Sixers, where they fell short by a run. The Strikers captain would like to put this performance behind them and look to get the campaign back on track. Their opponents haven't been in great form, and Short would look to exploit that.   

 Matthew Short and D'Arcy Short form a formidable opening pair, and the side will need a good start. Chris Lynn looked good in the last game and will aim to build partnerships with Jake Weatherald and Adam Hose in the middle order. Jamie Overton, James Bazley, and Harry Nielsen will look to do the heavy lifting in the lower middle order.  

The side will look for a good start with the new ball from Short and David Payne, who will look to exploit the weaknesses in the Renegades' batting line-up. Wes Agar and Overton must bowl tight spells and pick wickets in the middle overs. The side would like to see a good performance from Cameron Boyce and Bazley in the ing roles.

We will see overcast skies over Melbourne on December 29. The surface here is flat, but the weather will offer an advantage to the bowlers. Batsmen who get their eyes set on can score runs easily on this wicket. The side batting first would need 170 runs or more on this wicket.

Docklands Stadium, Melbourne, has a flat surface and a fast outfield. The shorter boundaries are good for the batsmen, but the slower nature of the surface can cause a few doubts in their minds. The fast bowlers have done well at this venue, but it is a difficult venue for the spinners.
