Netherlands Women are aiming for a third consecutive victory and possibly victory in the ODI series after having made a very strong start with back-to-back victories. They go up against a Papua New Guinea outfit who come as underdogs into the game. After having suffered a heavy loss in their only game of the series, it is not a great situation for Brenda Tau and her team.

Netherlands Women have largely been away from one-day format for the last 12 months but they have made a very strong start. PNG Women have had a string of losses in recent months including the recent tour of Zimbabwe. There is a lot of pride at stake for PNG Women coming into the game. A victory will put PNG Women in a great spot going into the match with Scotland on August 11.

Netherlands Women Preview

Netherlands were able to secure a comfortable victory against Scotland Women to put themselves in a very good position going into their penultimate ODI match in the series. Even though the team were chasing a relatively comfortable target against Scotland, a collapse of the middle order produced a panic by the 18th over, as the team were 5/81. The loss of five wickets in the space of 30 odd runs is a wake-up call, but the lower order proved more than effective for Netherlands.

Robine Rijke is the top scorer for the team with 64 runs from her two innings, but the focus will be on bowlers for this game.

Iris Zwilling put up a starring display with four wickets while conceding only 31 runs. Even though the wicket will aid bowlers, it will be particularly suitable for pacers. One can expect Iris Zwilling to have a big impact once again, while Hannah Landheer will also be looking to come amidst wickets. In the last meeting with PNG Women, Hannah Landheer ended up with numbers of 3/26.

Netherlands Women Predicted Playing XI:

Papua New Guinea Women Preview

PNG Women are searching for their first victory in any ODI match since April when they beat USA Women in the tri-series. After starting the campaign with losses against Netherlands and Scotland, the focus for PNG Women will be pride. So far in the series, the batting has been a big letdown for PNG Women. After a complete collapse against Netherlands in the first match, there was some positivity from PNG Women – especially with the top order.

Pauke Siaka almost came up with a half-century, as she hit 44 from 49 balls. The other noteworthy contributions came from opener Naoani Vare, who were able to tide over some tricky early overs with 30 from 57 balls.

Vicky Buruka, Geua Tom, and Isabel Toua will be the players to watch out for in the bowling department. All the pacers had a decent outing against Netherlands in the first match. Due to the pitch being ive of pacers, they are expected to perform even better. Buruka is the top wicket-taker in the PNG Women squad so far in the series with three wickets from her two innings at an average of 20 and an economy of 5.00.

Papua New Guinea Women Predicted Playing XI:

Naoani Vare, Brenda Tau (c), Tanya Ruma, Sibona Jimmy, Pauke Siaka, Kevau Frank, Vicky Araa, Henao Thomas, Isabel Toua, Geua Tom, Vicky Buruka

Weather Conditions

The pitch at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen can be tricky for the batting team. Just one of the last five first innings score on this ground has been above 200. The big chunk of low scores indicates a good day for bowlers who can make the most of early swing. There may be scattered showers throughout the day in Amstelveen. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 22°C. The showers may be pronounced earlier in the day.

Toss: To Bowl

Netherlands have found success while chasing games at the tri-series. The Netherlands Women team have chased both matches while Papua New Guinea are without success in the only game that they elected to chase.

Even though Papua New Guinea are desperate to come up with some success in this tri-series, they are likely to be met with stiff opposition from Netherlands Women once again. Despite not having played a lot of WODI action, the team has shown no signs of rustiness and they have been impressive with their strength.

Our prediction is for Netherlands Women to win
