Qatar will be locking horns with the United Arab Emirates in a top-of-the-table clash. This T20 World Cup Asia Sub-regional Qualifier B promises to bring about a crucial shift in the race to finish top of the points table even if the top two teams will be able to reach the regional final. Thailand are breathing down the neck of the two teams and they are only two points behind. Qatar have lost two UAE on both occasions when they met.
UAE come into the game on the back of a huge 155 on victory over Thailand while a modest 13-run victory over Bahrain has given Qatar crucial momentum coming into the game.

Qatar had to work hard for the victory over Bahrain as it certainly did not come easy for the team despite boasting a total of close to 200. In the last two matches, Qatar have been posting scores of 150+ and they have done so largely on the back of the form shown by Imal Liyanage. After grabbing 86 from just 54 balls in the game against Cambodia, Imal Liyanage once again came up with a stunning 78 from just 49 balls against Bahrain. He will be a big asset for the home team in the game. The 30-year-old has now scored a half-century in three consecutive games.
Mohammad Ahnaff bounced back from an inconsistent patch of form to get a half-century against Bahrain. His 60 runs provided his first half-century since the game against Thailand in the middle of November. Amir Farooq, though, was the pick of the bowlers after securing his first five-wicket haul in the T20Is. He has now come up with 8 wickets in his last three matches.

The United Arab Emirates have had a very consistent start to the campaign. After four consecutive victories, the team saw their Net Run Rate boosted immensely by a spectacular victory over Thailand. The team has failed to score over 150 runs in just one of the three matches so far. A significant portion of this good form is coming through Rahul Chopra, who has managed 153 runs from his four innings at an average of 38. His 80 runs against Thailand is the second half-century in the last three games.
Dhruv Parashar has displayed stunning form throughout the campaign and he has managed 10 wickets from his four innings at an average of just 5.30. Muhammad Jawad Ullah has also delivered excellent performances even if he has been struggling with his economy rates. UAE will be counting heavily on their bowling performances against a Qatar with very strong batting order.

The pitch is expected to be moderately balanced with sufficient for batsmen and bowlers. It is aptly reflected by the first innings score of 159 on average while the second innings average score drops down to 150 from the last eight matches that have taken place in this group. The weather in Doha is expected to be warm and sunny with a maximum of 32°C.
The West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha will be hosting the event. From the last eight games, this ground has witnessed a 75% success rate for teams batting first compared to just 25% for teams batting second.
The toss winner at this venue has had a marginal impact on the result. The teams batting first have had a victory on six occasions compared to teams batting second, which have managed a victory only on two occasions. The toss winner has had a 100% success rate with all eight toss winners from these group games going on to win the game.
United Arab Emirates have been sensational in the early stages of the qualifiers and they have a brilliant balance across the squad. Qatar have had a few close shaves but they have largely come out unscathed in most of the games. The UAE should be able to get a victory in this game.
Our prediction is for the United Arab Emirates to win
