Without a win in any of the Blast head to heads in 2019, 2021 or 2022, Somerset will travel down to Hove looking to make it three in a row against Sussex after wins in May 2023 and July 2024.
The most recent of those Somerset victories was at Taunton last summer but two years ago the teams met in Hove and a Tom Kohler-Core assault was enough to see the visitors from the West-country over the line by five wickets with three balls to spare.
Friday's game will have a different feel to it though as this year's T20 Blast is still very fresh and yet to really feel as though any team is taking a hold on the South Group.
That said, both Sussex and Somerset sit at the top of the table and ahead of Thursday's fixtures, only Kent could match their 100% winning record and they had played only one match.
Played in front of a lively crowd on a Friday night, this will provide a noisy atmosphere and one in which some players will be sure to excel.
The question is, will it be the home ers leaving happy or will the Somerset fans be making the long journey home with spirits high?

Sussex made it two wins from two with a convincing 80 run victory over Gloucestershire in Hove last weekend and they will be looking to put on another ruthless display in front of their home ers against another side from the south-west in this game.
Despite losing opener Harrison Ward and keeper-batter John Simpson at number three for single-figure scores, Sussex reached 148/3 just after the start of the 16th over and posted 173 all out thanks to 34 from Australian Daniel Hughes, J43 from James Coles at four and 58 from Tom Alsop at number five.
No other batter got into double figures but if those three can deliver again then Sussex should have few problems!
With the ball, the timeless Tymal Mills was at his best with 3/13 against Gloucestershire and James Coles and Jack Carson both picked up two wickets each as well.
In fact, the whole of the Sussex bowling line-up took at least one dismissal in their last game and will be high in confidence ahead of this fixture.

Somerset have been such a consistent T20 outfit over recent years that they seem to have a conveyor belt of talent with both bat and ball. They also have strength in depth so the fact they are missing Tom Banton at the top of the order, who is away on England duty, does not seem to make much of a difference!
Will Smeed hit 81 not out from 54 balls in their last game, the convincing eight wicket victory with 25 balls remaining against Essex in Chelmsford last weekend, and the white-ball specialist opener will look to attack from the first ball in this clash. Tom Kohler-Core has had previous success in this fixture and in Tom Lammonby and Tom Abell, Somerset have plenty of batting talent called Tom in the side, all without Banton.
WIth the ball, they once again have an embarrassment of riches.
Matt Henry has been one of the world's top bowlers over the last 12 months and he will open alongside England's Craig Overton with Australian left-arm pacer Riley Meredith waiting at first change. Skipper Lewis Gregory and spinner Ben Green are also individual match-winners.

It's going to be a cold and not particularly mild evening in Sussex on Friday evening and the sea breeze could make the temperatures of 15 - 13 degrees feel even cooler. Overcast with a chance of rain throughout.

With short boundaries, there are always opportunities for the stroke-makers to score quick runs but the pitch will not be as quick as in previous games due to the conditions. A par score will therefore be no higher than 180 in the first innings of this game.
On an evening where there could be some rain interruptions, both teams would prefer to know what they are chasing so we predict that both captains will opt to bowl first.
Sussex have a fine bowling line-up and their key batters are in good form but looking at how the teams performed in their last games it is Somerset who have more players across their XI in strong form. Therefore, we expect a close contest on Friday evening with Somerset coming out on top.
