Trent Rockets Preview

Trent Rockets started their season with a comprehensive 47-run win against Northern Superchargers. They followed it up with a thrilling one-run win against Manchester Originals.

The Rockets have a power-packed batting lineup with immense depth. With the likes of Tom Banton, Alex Hales, Sam Hain, Rovman Powell, and Adam Lyth forming the top and middle order, they can take any bowling attack apart on their day. Banton is now the leading run-getter of the tournament, with 111 runs in just 2 innings at a strike rate of 185.

Then they also have all-rounders Imad Wasim and Lewis Gregory down the order, who can be more than handy with the bat. 

Joe Root will re the squad now that he has finished the Test series against West Indies. Whether he is straightaway brought into the eleven remains to be seen.

Also, now that Rashid Khan has finished his duties with Major League Cricket, he has resumed his services for the Rockets in the Hundred. The star-leg-spinner from Afghanistan has 600 wickets in T20s and is also known for his quickfire cameos down the order. He will make Trent Rockets’s side that much stronger.

Among the other bowlers, Luke Wood (10 wickets in the last 9 matches at 8.72) and Sam Cook (11 wickets in the last 9 matches at 9.87) are expected to continue their good form.

Birmingham Phoenix started their season with a loss against Oval Invincibles but came back strongly in their next match versus London Spirit to a 3-wicket win. Set a target of 128, Birmingham reached there with just one ball to spare. Dan Mousley (39 off 38 balls) and Jacob Bethell (43 off 27 balls) were the stars of the chase. 

Liam Livingstone has failed in both matches so far, but he is a star in the shortest format, and we are backing him to make an impact in this game.

Ben Duckett, who had a fantastic Test series against West Indies this month, is expected to the squad soon. Whether he will feature in this match is not known yet, but his inclusion will significantly bolster Birmingham’s batting unit.
