USA take on England in an important Group 8 encounter that has a lot riding on it. England, after going down to South Africa, still need two more points to qualify to the business end of the tournament, whereas USA, who have yet to open their on the points table, are still searching for their first win since downing Pakistan in New York a couple of weeks ago.
Back to back defeats against South Africa and the West Indies in the Super 8s have ended USA’s hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals, though. However they’ll be looking to end this tournament on a high with a good show against England.
After shocking West Indies in the Super 8 opener, defending champions England lost a close game to South Africa and need to win their final game against USA by a decent margin to give themselves the best chance to make it to the semis.

Desperate for a win, the USA enter their clash against England in the Super 8s as underdogs. The co hosts will be proud of how far they have come in this competition and would be looking to finish off their tournament with a stunning win against the current T20 world cup champions England. Their young group of players is still learning the art of competing against much stronger sides and have done decently well in taking the games close.
Saurabh Netravalkar in particular is a great asset to their bowling unit and he has troubled some of the great names going around the cricket namely Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma, Aiden Markram and more. However, he has barely enjoyed any from the rest of the bowlers havn’t pitched such as Ali Khan and Harmeet Singh. Indian origin spinner Noshthus Kenjige has not quite been able to have the impact he had early on in the tournament.
On the batting front, Andries Gous had a splendid outing against the Proteas that took them closer to victory, but by the team his innings gathered steam and he started scoring boundaries, he ran out of partners. Overall, USA have shown us that they’ve the talent to challenge teams, but they need more tactical nous and finesse to be able to put pressure on opposition consistently at different stages in the match.

England’s see-sawing campaign has given them some high moments and some dull moments. Following a clinical performance against co-hosts West Indies, England came into the South Africa game with their tails up.
They restricted the Proteas to a par total, courtesy a good bowling effort and some extraordinary fielding display. But they lost Phil Salt to a breath-taking catch from Reeza Hendricks, and soon the top order and the middle order batsmen went into a shell, leaving the lower middle order to do the bulk of the scoring.
Harry Brook helped himself to another crucial 50 and Liam Livingstone after having nothing to do in the last match came out blazing to eat into the required run rate. But both of them were dismissed when the English had the match in the bag, allowing South Africa back in the game. Sam Curran and Jofra Archer who haven’t had much to do with the bat in hand this tournament couldn’t bring out the big shots necessary to seal the game for their sides, and they fell short in the end.
Thanks to the NRR boost they thru a dominating win against the Windies, a victory against the USA is all they need to seal their berth in the semis. And they’ll come fully prepared.

The surfaces at Barbados have been good cricketing wickets, bringing both batsmen and bowlers into play. But it has had more to offer to batsmen in this tournament, so we expect run scoring to be easier in this match. The forecast for this game is not ideal, with a bit of cloud around and perhaps a delay due to wet weather.

The match is set to be played at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. England and USA lost their previous games here at this venue by a significant margin.
USA has had more success chasing down totals in this tournament. And England’s returns batting second haven’t been bad either, and they displayed their chasing credentials against West Indies and Oman. It looks highly likely that both captains will be thinking about putting the opposition in to have a bat first.
USA will turn up and show some fight. They may seize a few big moments in the game, as well. But it won’t be enough to contain an English onslaught. England to win, and win big.
