Edgabston Cricket Ground, Birmingham Pitch Report

The Pitch at Edgbaston generally is a good batting surface where the batters can trust the bounce and play their shots. However, it also provides something for the bowlers, particularly if conditions are cloudy. Fast bowlers can get good carry and some movement with the new ball. The square boundaries are shorter about 55-60 meters while the straight boundaries are about 65 meteres, making it one of the shorter grounds in England.

In Test cricket the conditons favour the batters on the first three days and if the conditions are overcast then bowlers are likley to have the upperhand. Spinners tend to get some assistance later in the innings, particularly on Days 4 and 5 of Test matches as the pitch dries out and may offer uneven bounce and rough areas.

When it comes to ODI's teams chasing won most matches and the average 1st innings score is 235. It offers a balance track where both batters and bowlers can have their say. While in T20s teams prefer to bat first at this venue and they have had much success where 53% of the matches have been won by the teams batting first.
