Birmingham Bears Women Preview

Birmingham Bears have had a mixed season in the Women's Vitality T20 Blast so far, where they managed to tie their first match of the season against The Blaze Women, then won their second match against Durham Women by 42 runs. But they suffered their first defeat of the season in their last match against Essex Women in a rain affected game.

The match was reduced to 14 overs and the Bears bowling first conceded 154/4, not the idealistic bowling performance from a pretty strong bowling lineup. Millie Taylor was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/14 and Charis Pavely picked up one wicket.

The Bears did get off a solid start scoring 65 runs in 7 overs, but lost the wickets of Davina Perrin (28 runs), Abigail Freeborn (25 runs) but they lost the inform batter Laura Harris for a single ball duck. Sterre Kalis played a lone hand scoring 52 runs in 25 balls and she didn't any from the other end as the Bears lost the match by 14 runs.

For the Bears this season, Davina Perrin has been the mainstay batter and she has scored 127 runs in 3 matches, averaging 42.33, she has scored 165 runs in 7 matches at Edgbaston and is the batter to watch out for the Bears. In the bowling department,  Charis Pavely tops the charts with four wickets.

Somerset Women Preview

Somerset Women are having the worst time and they haven't been able to get any momentum going in their favour in the first two matches of the season. In both matches it was their batting unit that failed to get going and failed to score past 135 runs in both the matches. In their first match Somerset lost to Surrey Women by 8 wickets.

In their last match against Essex Women, bowling first, Somerset Women restricted Essex Women to 149/7 on a slightly tricky track. Ellie Anderson finished with figures of 3/19 and was the stand out bowler. Amanda Jade-Wellington picked up two wickets conceding 21 runs bowling at an economy of under 5.50.

Then chasing down the target, Somerset Women lost their top order for 26 runs, Fran Wilson was the lone batter to score past 20 runs, she scored 25 runs in 19 balls. This abysmal batting performance has put Somerset Women at the bottom of the points table and they will need their batters to come good in order to rejuvenate their campaign.

Alex Griffiths is the leading run-scorer for Somerset Women with 50 runs in 2 matches, while rest of the batting lineup hasn't come to the party yet. In the bowling department Ellie Anderson has led the way with four wickets in two matches.

Somerset Women Predicted Playing XI:

Emma Corney, Fran Wilson, Rebecca Odgers, Sophie Luff, Amanda Jade Wellington, Olivia Barnes, Amelie Munday, Alex Griffiths, Chloe Skelton, Ellie Anderson, Mollie Robbins

Birmingham Bears Women enter this contest as favourites and they are the in-form team where they have a well balanced squad and both their batting and bowling units are in-form. While for Somerset Women the struggles with the bat is a major concern and they will be against a top notch bowling lineup. We are backing Birmingham Bears Women to win this fixture.
