Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders - Previous Encounter
The previous match of RCB vs KKR took place on the first day of IPL 2025 at the Eden Gardens. It was a dominating performance by Royal Challengers Bangalore, and they scored a comfortable win. Scoring a win at the away venue has given them the confidence for the rest of the matches at the league stage.
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and smartly elected to bat first. Their bowling unit was slow at the start, but eventually gained momentum when Krunal Pandya was handed over the spell. He scalped 3 wickets at an economy of 7.25. Josh Hazlewood scalped 2 wickets at an economy of 5.50. Yash Dayal, Rasikh Salam, and Suyash Sharma managed to scalp a single wicket each.
Kolkata Knight Riders received a good start from Sunil Narine (44 off 26) and Ajinkya Rahane (56 off 31). The duo provided a good scoring momentum at the start of the match with a healthy partnership. Angkrish Raghuvanshi also managed to score 30 off 22 balls at a strike rate of 136.36.
On the batting front, Royal Challengers Bangalore received a solid start from their top order, and hence, things became easier for the team. Phil Salt scored 56 off 31 balls at a strike rate of 180.65. Virat Kohli scored 59 off 36 balls at a strike rate of 163.89. Skipper Rajat Patidar was on fire and scored 34 off 16 balls at a strike rate of 212.50. These three batters played a crucial role in completing the chase for the team.
The bowling unit of the Kolkata Knight Riders was weak. Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Sunil Narine managed to pick a single wicket each but it was not enough to stop the opposition from winning the game.
