The Indian Premier League is coming back in action with some of the biggest cricket stars in the world. After the IPL 2025 mega auction, some of the big names will be seen for the first time and some of them will be seen with a new team.
In the last 18 years of IPL, one thing is for sure, that cricketers from every part of the world are looking for an opportunity to play in the biggest T20 cricket league of the world. A total of 577 players ed their name for the mega auctions, and out of that, only 182 turned out to be the lucky ones.
Out of the 182 sold players, 62 cricketers were from foreign countries who will be seen in action with their respective franchises. A right mix of local talent and overseas cricketers will make the winning combination in the season of the IPL.

1) Jos Buttler - Gujarat Titans (INR 15.75 Crore)
Jos Buttler will no longer be seen wearing the Rajasthan Royals jersey this year. The team management failed to retain the English skipper and Gujarat Titans took the opportunity to buy Jos Buttler during the IPL 2025 mega auction for a price tag of INR 15.75 Crore. He turned out to be the most expensive overseas player in the auctions. After 6 years of commitment to Rajasthan Royals, Jos Buttler will be seen playing for Gujarat Titans and it will be a new beginning for him.

2) Trent Boult - Mumbai Indians (INR 12.50 Crore)
Mumbai Indians will have the services of New Zealand’s ace pacer Trent Boult. He was bought during the IPL 2025 mega auction for a price tag of INR 12.50 Crore and Boult’s attack will be combined with India’s yorker specialist Jasprit Bumrah. During the auctions, Boult turned out to be the 2nd highest costliest foreign player in the list. Considering his recent experience in the international cricket, Trent Boult is expected to be a trump card for MI.

Josh Hazlewood is currently nursing an injury in the Australian camp. He also missed out on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 because of the same reason. However, the pacer is confirmed to make his comeback in the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore. During the mega auctions, he was bought for a price tag of INR 12.50 Crore and that made him the 2nd costliest overseas player in the auctions.
